I sin kritikk av Rind-studien sier Ondersma og medarbeidere: «In our view, the primary flaw in the Rind et al. article is not the science that it used but its use of science. Through its emphasis on certain key points and its omission of others, the article could be interpreted as using science to inappropriately imply that key moral assumptions about CSA should be reconsidered» (1).
Hvis ikke dette er hard kritikk, hva er det da? Og man skal ha spesialglass i brillene for ikke å se at Dallam og medarbeideres artikkel (2) også er en skarp kritikk av Rind-studien.
Kringlen & Høglend er tydeligvis ikke i stand til å ta innover seg at det var en alvorlig feil og mangel i forrige innlegg å utelate den avgjørende kildereferansen fra National Academy of Science. Hvorfor er den ikke satt på trykk nå? De henviser til APA Monitor Online 11.12. 1999. Hva har det med National Academy of Science å gjøre? APA sendte Rind-studien til the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dette er heller ikke National Academy of Science. I september 1999 bestemte komiteen i AAAS følgende (3): «We are not prepared to undertake an analysis of the scientific merits of the article in question because we believe that disputes over methods in science are best resolved, not through the intervention of AAAS or any other «independent» organization, but rather through the process of intellectual discourse among scientists in a professional field. The fact that the Committee has chosen not to proceed with an evaluation of the article in the Psychological Bulletin should not be seen as either an endorsement or criticism of it.»
Det løsrevne fragmentet Kringlen & Høglend siterer fra redaktøren i APA, kan få det til se ut som AAAS går god for Rind-studien. Det er feil.
